HortWatch offers a complete pipfruit monitoring and recommendation service for pest and disease control, based on the Integrated Fruit Production (IFP) standards from NZ Pipfruit.
We monitor both pest and, where appropriate, predator activity according to established New Zealand Pipfruit IFP guidelines.
Our base monitoring plan includes:
- November: powdery mildew, woolly apple aphid, apple leaf curling midge, European red mite
- Early December: black spot, leafroller, apple leaf curling midge
- Mid December: European red mite, woolly apple aphid, apple leaf curling midge
- Late January: woolly apple aphid, scale
- Mid Feb: woolly apple aphid, European red mite
The service can be customised to suit your particular needs, and our easy-to-read reports give you a clear picture of your orchard's status.
Our HortWatch technician discuss your monitoring needs with you and establish a plan. Your property will then be mapped and divided into monitor blocks of 1-2 ha in size for monitoring.
Our orchard monitoring staff then visit your property on the planned dates to take readings, and results for each pest or disease site will be reported to you within 24 hours of the visit.
HortWatch reports are carefully designed so you can assess your risk at a glance, but also contain detailed information so you can make accurate and effective decisions.
